There are a few auctions coming up for May that weren't available when I published the schedule. They seem interesting and worth a visit.
Clarke Auction is having an estate auction May 17th with previews beginning May 15th.
I thought these two mirror lots at Clarke are interesting and both very decorative. The pair at the top are described as Asian Style and have an estimate of $200 - $300. The giltwood and blue mirror at the bottom is quite unusual and fun. It has an estimate of $200 - $300.
New Orleans Auction has a sale coming up over 3 days May 21, 22, and 23. It's obviously a big sale and full of good traditional furniture and decoration. I found some of the decorative objects particularly intriguing.
This pair of German 'green man' masque door knockers at New Orleans I would use either as they were meant or just as wall decoration on either side of something. They're a good size at 21" high. They are Lot 64 are have an estimate range pf $125 - $250.
I can also see these Italian angel wings used in all sorts of decorative ways. They are 23.5" high and seem a bargain t an estimate of $100 - $200 (Lot 200).
I think this bohemian glass decantur is gorgeous. It would be a beautiful decorative object placed hopefully in a place with light behind it, like a window sill. It's 20.5" tall and has been in the Columbus Museum (Georgia). It's Lot 133 with an estimate range of $75 - $125.
Finally, New Orleans Auction has several sets of twin beds. Mostly impractical in this day and age, but I think this Italian polychromed set from the late 19th century make one pause. How could I perhaps either join them into a large queen or king sized bed, or maybe just use the headboards as wall decoration? They are Lot 83 and are estimated at $1,000 - $1,500.
These are both interesting auctions, so have some fun browsing the catalogues on-line (links above)! Maybe you'll find an interesting decoration to add some interest to your home.
